The overall objective of this project is to develop new forest damaging agent prevention tools and risk management methods to support and ensure livelihood in Aurora regions in relation to forests. By decreasing the effect of damaging agents and developing new methods, the region’s economy and vitality are improved. New RDI cooperation in the forestry sector will be created and new know-how is shared. The project will generate new knowledge for short- and long-term activities to enhance living conditions in the Aurora region and contribute to sustainable ecological, social, and economic development.WP1: Data gathering and requirement definition on forest damaging agents for method development on climate change adaptation and risk managementWP 2: Development of a climate change risk management and prediction model for pine blister rust and moose browsing damage in Aurora regionWP3: A system for long-term forest damage and disease identification.WP4: Develop a method to visualize comprehensive climate change adaptation data and effects.WP5: Dissemination and knowledge sharing in the Aurora region.

The main result of the project is to develop risk management tools for forest damage and disease related climate change adaptation.  As a result of the project new tools to predict and detect forest damage areas will be developed to fill the gap between research and practice. 3D- and other data-based visualization tools will be developed to enable comprehensive visualization of data. New tools and methods will be piloted to strengthen co-operation between northern countries in forest related climate change adaptation.
