Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Lapland UAS) is a key partner in the project and is responsible for developing the digital platform that enables this collaboration. With its expertise in user-centred digital services and regional development, Lapland UAS ensures that the platform is functional, accessible, and tailored to the needs of both societal actors and academic institutions. Nordic Bridge is a three year project that started on 1st April 2025 and will last until 31st of March, 2027. At its core, Nordic Bridge is a matchmaking platform where public organisations, companies, NGOs, and community actors can post real challenges or opportunities that would benefit from academic insight. Students, researchers, and academic staff can explore these challenges and connect with the organisations behind them. When interests align, the platform supports the creation of thesis projects, joint research initiatives, internship opportunities, and other forms of cooperation that blend scientific knowledge with practical relevance. Tulokset The project creates opportunities for>1. Joint Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. theses based on real world challenges,2. Joint research projects and grant proposals,3. Internship and employment pathways for students,4. Dialogue and co-creation between academia and society.A distinctive feature of the project is its cross-border dimension. Nordic Bridge connects partners in Norway, Iceland, Ireland, and Finland, enabling students and researchers in one country to work on challenges arising in another. This ’knowledge exchange across borders’ supports regional innovation, strengthens local capacity, and helps retain talent in the NPA region. By creating a structured and trusted space for collaboration, Nordic Bridge turns shared challenges into shared solutions—benefiting communities, supporting academic development, and contributing to a more resilient and interconnected North. Tulosten hyödynnettävyys The project results will be directly used in universities to support practice-based learning, collaboration with external partners, and the development of relevant skills. Regionally, the results will strengthen cooperation between higher education, public organisations, and businesses by addressing real-world challenges. The Nordic Bridge platform will serve as a shared digital space to connect needs and expertise, facilitate project collaboration, and ensure the results are accessible and usable beyond the project duration.
