The Degree Programme in Responsible People & Business Management prepares graduates for business by providing a comprehensive understanding of people-oriented leadership, business management, and entrepreneurship. In the International Responsible People & Business Management (IB) you will study both the human aspect (people) and the operational aspect (business) of an organisation in the Arctic Circle in an international group whilst learning about the well-being and development of employees alongside the efficient and profitable business activities.


International Responsible People & Business Management programme focuses on the well-being and development of employees alongside the efficient and profitable business activities. There is a growing need for business specialists equipped with skills and knowledge of leading people in diverse situations and contexts. As a graduate of International Responsible People & Business Management, you can empower people in the companies or organizations.


Diverse personnel-oriented leadership is the key element of the programme of International Responsible People & Business Management. You will be creating success by empowering people in the company or organization. You will learn basic skills relevant for work in sustainable business world, such as marketing, financial management, law, business communication and project management. Your knowledge deepens the importance of people in organizational success including human resource management, employee experience, ethical and sustainable leadership management. You will also learn how to lead learning and competence management and foster innovative mindset. In the projects and cases, you will work together with local businesses and NGO’s.

The approach of the programme focuses on the well-being and development of employees alongside the efficient and profitable business activities. You will deepen your knowledge in topics covering the entire employee journey and considering the responsible practices in human resource and paying attention to ethical conduct and sustainability of managing a business, its people and organisational culture. Through your studies you will become a business expert who can work innovatively both globally and locally and has an entrepreneur-like approach to the people-centered business development. You will learn about the possibilities of establishing a business of your own and creating an individual entrepreneurship path. You will also be able to recognize business opportunities around you. This degree allows you to be employed in various tasks in different fields in business and in the public sector.

Implementation of studies may take multiple forms: in-class studies as well as field activities such as practical training in a company and field trips in the region, an international exchange period and online studies. Students use the Arctic Valley virtual learning environment in business studies.

Double degree

We offer possibilities for a double degree together with our partner institutions FH Aachen UAS in Germany and Turiba University in Latvia. Double degree programme provides you the opportunity of studying for a definite period at a partner institution and getting a degree from both institutions. We also hope you to enjoy Lapland so much that you’ll stay here after your graduation. Best way to start that journey is to look for an internship at a local company.
