Bachelor’s degree programmes

Study in an international environment in Lapland! Lapland University of Applied Sciences has 5 international degree programmes leading to a Bachelor’s degree. The language of teaching is English. Studies take 3.5 – 4 years to complete. They consist of basic, professional and elective studies, practical training and a Bachelor’s thesis.

Online applications for the programmes will be submitted through the national studyinfo.fi -service in Finland. You will find Lapland UAS from Studyinfo.fi -service by the name “Lapland University of Applied Sciences”. Studyinfo.fi -service includes also all the information about admission criteria and entrance exams.

Separate application period for English Bachelor’s programmes

Lapland UAS arranges separate application period for English Bachelor’s programmes from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026. Here you find the direct links to admissions criteria, entrance exam info and applying in www.studyinfo.fi -service:

Attach the required documents to your application within seven (7) days after submitting your application on Studyinfo.fi -service. Please note that your application form will not be taken into consideration in the admission process if you do not submit all required documents when applying.

The entrance examination

The entrance examination information for all the programmes is published in www.studyinfo.fi. Please read carefully the entrance exam instructions as the entrance exams are different in each application period. 

Studies start

The academic year begins in September 2025. The start date of the studies depends on the education. You find the starting dates from the For new students -pages. Please note that in order to be able to start your studies in Bachelor’s degrees, you must be present in Finland for lectures when the education begins.

  1. Transfer applications from one higher education institution to another or from one study programme to another within a higher education institution in such a way that the degree title for the target degree changes. Application period: 1.-15.5. and 1.-15.11. Apply online in Studyinfo.
  • The applicant has a valid right to study for a degree at a Finnish higher education institution.

 

  • The applicant’s previous studies enable the degree to be completed within the study right period (target time +1 year).

 

  • The applicant has been present as a degree student for at least one semester. The transfer can be applied for at the earliest during the first semester when the applicant is present as a student (transfer at the beginning of the 2nd semester).

 

  • The applicant must have sufficient language skills when transferring to studies in which the language of instruction is different from that of the studies from which the transfer is made. Language skills can be assessed by interviewing.

 

  • In English-language studies, the degree may include studies in Finnish or Swedish up to 50%. In Finnish-language studies, the degree may include English-language or Swedish-language studies up to 50%.

 

  • The teaching arrangements allow for the admission of a new student to the studies.

 

  • Applicants who have completed most studies suitable for the study programme (including accreditations) will be given priority if there are more eligible applicants than places available.

 

  • Applicants for UAS Master’s studies must have the prior degree required for the training in question and at least two years of suitable work experience.

 

  • The selection for visual artist studies includes a demonstration of skills, which must be completed successfully if the applicant has not previously completed it in the student selection process of the university of applied sciences.

 

  • In social, health and sports education, the applicant’s state of health and functional capacity must be such that the student is capable of the practical tasks and training related to the studies. Therefore, applicants are asked in the application form about health factors that may hinder their studies. In addition, applicants are asked in the application form about any previous cancellation of their right to study due to health problems or endangering the safety of other persons. (L932/2014.)

 

  1. Changing the study programme within an institute of higher education in such a way that the degree title for the target degree does not change

 

  • The applicant has a valid right to study for a degree at Lapland University of Applied Sciences.

 

  • The applicant’s previous studies enable the degree to be completed within the study right period (target time +1 year).

 

  • The applicant has been present as a degree student for at least one semester.

 

  • The applicant must have sufficient language skills when transferring to studies in which the language of instruction is different from that of the studies from which the transfer is made. Language skills are assessed by interviewing.

 

  • In English-language studies, the degree may include studies in Finnish or Swedish up to 50%. In Finnish-language studies, the degree may include English-language or Swedish-language studies up to 50%.

 

  • The teaching arrangements allow for the admission of a new student to the studies.

 

A student who has completed studies via an open university of applied sciences and meets the following criteria may apply and be accepted as a Lapland UAS student. Note, that the number of study places are limited:

1. When applying to a Bachelor’s degree programme the student has completed  at least 60 credits  in an open university of applied sciences.

2. When applying to a Master’s degree programme of 90 credits the student has completed  25 credits in an open university of applied sciences.

3. When applying to a Master’s degree programme of 60 credits the student has completed  20 credits in an open university of applied sciences.

The applicant must have an applicable Bachelor’s degree or other applicable higher education degree as well as two years’ job experience after completing the degree in question.
If the student has completed a college-level or higher-level vocational degree programme before taking the Bachelor’s degree, the required job experience may have been acquired during the period between the degrees

4. When applying the student has completed  the required credits which has been confirmed on applicant´s  Individual Study Plan (ISP). Please contact the Study Counsellor

The studies must have been field-specific studies; studies completed at all universities of applied sciences are acceptable.

Selection is based on field-specific principles; selection is based on an interview, completed studies and completed credits.

The student must have a realistic possibility to complete the studies during the right-to-study period (progress in studies, readiness to study, languages, mathematics) and the applicant may be required to pass a programme-specific applicability test before selection.

It takes 1-3 weeks to process your application.

Apply online to autumn semester 1.5. – 30.11. and to spring semester 1.12. – 30.4.
