What are My Global Diary Ambassadors?
Our My Global Diary Ambassadors work to share their own international study experience on Instagram and to insprire other students to become more international as well. As an ambassador, a student gets to share stories about the application process for student exchange, life during an exchange, about a traineeship abroad, or about going international at home. Ambassadors work as a part of a team of other talented content creators.
What do we expect from an Ambassador?
We require our ambassadors to be comfortable with using Instagram. We also require good listening, reading, writing and and speaking skills in English as the working language of the project is going to be English. This does not mean that you cannot create content in Finnish, though, as our Instagram account is bilingual. We are looking for a diverse group of students who represent a wide variety of study fields and backgrounds. Overall, we are looking for motivated and inspired students, who can work independently and deliver the proposed content by agreed deadlines. Students with experience in social media management and content creation are encouraged to apply but previous work experience in the field is not required.
What does an ambassador get to do?
When working as an ambassador you will increase your internationalisation competencies and learn to network with other people. You will also gain practical experience in marketing & digital content creation as well as social media management. Most importantly you will get to tell your own story in your own personal way using video, pictures, text, hand drawn comics – you name it! The task is student-oriented, and you will always have the support of your university’s internationalisation team behind you.
Recruitment for new ambassadors: We are currently recruiting ambassadors for the time period between September 2025 – January 2026. This recruitment call is open until midnight August 25, 2025. The chosen ambassadors are required to post content (preferably Instagram stories and reels) on a designated responsibility day during each week. This means that you are going to be in charge of your ULapland’s My Global Diary Ambassador Instagram account for one day a week between September and January. The pay is a one time payment of 200 € which is payable after all duties have been completed.
Compulsory Training session and notice of selection: The results of the selection will be shared at latest one week before the compulsory training session, which is taking place on September 4 from 16:00 – 18:00. The chosen ambassadors are required to formally accept their position before taking part in the training.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, like you, to be the friendly face that new exchange students meet upon their arrival to their new campus town. This programme is designed to help new Lapland UAS exchange students to feel at home and supported expecially during their first days.
A welcoming buddy is a fellow student, studying at Lapland UAS, who welcomes new exchange students upon their arrival and helps them with their first steps on their exchange journey. Your participation will make a significant difference in their arrival experience.

Lapland UAS and University of Lapland organise a Friend Programme in Rovaniemi. Activities in the programme starts every year in September and January/February offering a great chance to meet international students and get to know different languages and cultures. For international students the programme gives a possibility to make a local friend and it offers a window into local activities. The idea of the programme is to introduce Finland, Lapland and Finnish culture to international students. The Friend Programme does not only offer international students an opportunity to experience everyday Finnish life and culture, but also helps them to adapt to their new surroundings by connecting them with a welcoming friend(s).
For who?
Everyone, who is interested in getting to know other cultures and forming (life)long friendships, are welcome to join Friend Programme!
As a local friend, you can participate on your own, with your family or friends! The most important thing is to help the international student(s) to feel welcome. We will arrange two official meetings. After the first meeting the friend(s) and the international student(s) are keeping in touch within their own resources and timetable. Friend Programme participants does not offer accommodation or financial support to the international student(s).
As an international student, you will get a chance to make local friends, learn a bit about Finns and their everyday life among many other things.

Café Lingua is a meeting place for those who are interested in different languages and cultures. Meetings are great opportunity to improve language skills and culture knowledge. The atmosphere is relaxed and you can enjoy also a cup of coffee during the meetings. There are discussions for example in German, French, Italian or Chinese language. Participants can speak in their native language or just for fun and practice. Meetings are held in Rovaniemi. This activity is arranged by the language center of Lapland University.
