A smooth everyday life supports successful studying. Information gathered from everyday activities, both through observations and feedback, is an important part of the continuous development of the university of applied sciences. You can participate and make a difference by reporting your observations and any potential risks related to our activities using this form. Everyday observations allow us to quickly review how smoothly our operational processes are running and improve them.
Students participate in decision-making processes in various ways and bring student perspectives to discussions, for example, in different workshops and discussion events. The Student Union ROTKO appoints the statutory student representatives to the Board of Lapland UAS and the Board of Examiners at a meeting of the Representative Council.
Representatives to other working groups concerning the entire university of applied sciences are appointed from among ROTKO representatives. Sometimes students’ opinions on teaching are also sought at the individual field-of-study level. In such cases, Heads of Competence may invite students to serve as representatives in field-specific working groups. Student Feedback System The student feedback system consists of course feedback collected from individual courses and national surveys. The Student Union ROTKO, the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS), and other parties may collect feedback on various themes, such as the development of student well-being. We also encourage students to give immediate feedback directly to teachers, study counsellors, and Student Services, for example. Course feedback is collected through Moodle for every course. Through the system, you can give brief feedback as many times as you wish during the course and final feedback when the course ends. Teachers use the feedback they receive to develop the course and may also respond to the feedback. Feedback reports are available to students, the teacher, and the manager of the degree once at least five responses to the final feedback survey have been submitted.
The National graduating student feedback survey for universities of applied sciences (AVOP survey) is a national feedback survey that collects information about teaching and learning, internationalisation, connections with working life, practical training, the thesis, and student satisfaction. Students complete the survey when submitting their graduation application. The results are used both to develop the university’s own activities and nationally in the steering and funding of higher education by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The national career monitoring survey for universities of applied sciences is sent to those who graduated five years earlier. It provides information about graduates’ employment, how well their degree meets the needs of working life, the competencies provided by the degree, the career paths supported by the education, and the correspondence between studies and working-life requirements. The results of the career monitoring survey are also used both to develop the university’s own activities and nationally in the steering and funding of higher education by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
