The purpose of practical training is to ensure that you are guided in becoming familiar with practical tasks in your field and in applying the knowledge and skills you have acquired during your studies in real working environments. Practical training is goal‑oriented and diverse activity, and it is designed to support the development of your professional competence and workplace skills.

Training as part of your studies
The practical training is included in your degree programme’s curriculum and it forms an important part of your personal learning process. It is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of Lapland University of Applied Sciences and programme‑specific instructions. Below you will find the placement guidelines for each degree programme.
If you receive a salary for your training period, it is considered an employment relationship, and you are covered by the statutory accident insurance of your employer through your work contract. If the training period is not an employment relationship, you are covered by the accident insurance of Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
We use Workseed as the environment for supervising and assessing the training. You can find further instructions by visiting Student’s toolkit – Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
A training period completed abroad offers you the opportunity to become familiar with a new language and culture, and it is an excellent way to build international contacts. Having international work experience can also be an advantage when applying for jobs in your home country. Our grants are available for international training periods as well.
