Participation in examinations

Examination sessions

Students are expected to participate in the actual exam session for the course, if one is organized. In degree programs, students who receive a failing grade are entitled to two retakes, as specified in the course/semester implementation plan. Each exam registration is considered a used attempt. If a student does not receive a passing grade after three (3) attempts, they must retake the course/semester in accordance with any changed requirements. An approved grade can be raised once (1) by the end of the semester following the end of the course.

Examination misconduct

If a student is guilty of misconduct in an examination or other assessment situation, their performance will be rejected. A study performance will also be rejected if misconduct or plagiarism is detected after the examination has been submitted. Cheating or plagiarism may result in other disciplinary measures under the Act and Decree on Universities of Applied Sciences. The university of applied sciences may check study-related performance using a plagiarism detection system.

Notification of exam results

The teacher must notify the student of the exam result and record the exam result in the student’s study record no later than one month after the exam. The student has the right to receive information on the application of the assessment criteria to their study performance. Students must be given the opportunity to review their assessed written or otherwise recorded study performance.

Retention of exam answers

Written and otherwise recorded study performance must be retained for at least six months after the results are published.

Appeals

A student who is dissatisfied with the assessment of their study performance or the recognition of studies completed elsewhere or competence demonstrated in other ways may request a correction from the teacher who carried out the assessment, either verbally or in writing. The request for correction must be made within 14 days of the date on which the student had the opportunity to become aware of the assessment results. The request for correction must be responded to within 14 days of the date on which the decision-maker received the request for correction.

A student who is dissatisfied with the teacher’s decision may request a correction in writing from the university’s examination board within 14 days of being informed of the decision.
