I’m starting my studies at Lapland UAS. Can I register as a non-attending student for the first academic year?
According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act, a first-year student may only register as a non-attending student for the academic year on certain grounds.

I am a new student. How can I active my user credentials (username and password)?
You can activate your user credentials after receiving a notification email from the Lapland UAS. The user credentials are created after your study right has been added to the register. Please note that the notification email might end up to your email’s Spam Folder. More information: LUC IT SERVICES – user account management – Login

I am a new student. When do I have to enroll for the first semester’s courses?
You will get answers to your questions at the beginning of your studies. You can enroll for the courses once your studies have started.
I am a new student. Do I need to do something before I start my studies?
Before starting your studies, you have received a notification email about your user credentials and completing a self-study package for study orientation. It is recommended to complete the self-study package before the first contact instruction session.

I need a Study Certificate or a Transcript of Records. What should I do?
You can order official documents, electronically certified by the UAS, from Peppi. Instructions can be found here.
If you need a certificate with a signature and the school’s official stamp, you can send the request to opintotoimisto@lapinamk.fi.
How can I get a Kela meal subsidy card?
You can pick up the card from the Student Affairs Office during opening hours. If necessary, the card can be sent by post.
Membership in the student union Rotko involves a comprehensive package of services and discounts for students – you will get access to a wide range of local and national discounts (e.g. train and bus tickets, student-priced meals etc.). I’m studying at an Open UAS. Can I get a Kela meal subsidy card?
Unfortunately, no. The Kela meal subsidy card is only meant for degree students but as an Open UAS student, you can get a specific discount certificate. The certificate can be obtained from the Open UAS, and it can be used in campus restaurants at Lapland UAS and University of Lapland (Felli and Petronella).
At the Kemi and Tornio campuses, certificates can also be requested from the Student Affairs Office.
How can I get a student discount for VR or Matkahuolto?
You can get a student discount on train tickets for long-distance traffic and VR’s commuter traffic when you have a student card entitling you to a discount.
Do I have to pay the FSHS (Finnish Student Health Service) fee?

I have lost my degree certificate. How can I get a new one?
Lapland UAS charges a fee in accordance with the price list for copies. You can also check the free Suomi.fi services to see if the information about your degree is sufficient. The price list can be found here.
If you need a copy of your degree certificate, please contact the coordinator of your field. You will then receive payment information and a copy will be provided in return for payment receipt.
I have studied at the Open UAS and now I have a study right as a degree student. It seems that my credits have disappeared in Peppi. What should I do?
Your credits have not disappeared, but they still exist on the Open UAS right to study. The coordinator of your study field will transfer the Open UAS credits to your new right to study as soon as possible.
I have previous UAS or University studies. Can I apply for a credit transfer?
You can apply for a credit transfer at the beginning of your studies. Before filling the credit transfer application, please have a guidance discussion with your study counsellor. If you have transferred as a degree student from the Open UAS (path studies), the coordinator of our field will transfer the Open UAS credits to your new right to study.
Can I have credit transfers based on my work experience?
Yes, if the Study Counsellor of your field considers that your work experience meets the competence objectives of the studies or practical training to be substituted.
