The aim of a practical training is to give you a guided introduction to practical work in your field and to apply the knowledge and skills you learn in working life. Practical training is goal-oriented and diverse in order to develope your professional and working life skills.

Practical training developes your professional identity in and during the course of your training:

  • you will become familiar with the key tasks in your field
  • learn how to use a variety of tools and methods
  • assess your own skills and development needs
  • develope your own skills and competences
  • develope your general competences for working life
  • make contacts and network in the world of work

Practical training is part of your curriculum and your personal learning process. Practical training is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of Lapland UAS and the specific guidelines of the school and you are entitled to guidance during it. You can find the guidelines for the practical training, which define the objectives, scope, content, delivery and evaluation of the training in Moodle.

With the exception of students in the field of social and health care, traineeships are subject to a written contract. If the traineeship and the student agree on an employment relationship, a separate employment contract must be concluded between the employer and the employee in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act.

You are insured against accidents during practical training and business trips in accordance with the Student Accident Insurance Regulation.

If you do your traineeship in an employment relationship, you will be covered by the accident insurance of the place where you did your traineeship.
