Polar Electro has donated Polar wrist devices to Lapland University of Applied Sciences for research and teaching purposes.

Cooperation has been done before and now UAS and Polar Electro company have agreed to cooperate in the research of expectant mothers.

Inactivity has risen strongly in public discussion lately. People’s lifestyles and living environments have undergone many changes that do not promote physical activity.

– New means are needed as well as multidisciplinary and professional research and development activities to solve the challenges related to inactivity. Polar Electro’s donation is important for the applied research related to Lapland UAS’s Wellfare4All strategic focus, which emphasises competence area director Hannele Keränen.

Polar Electro Oy and its research department, Polar Research Center, actively cooperate with universities of applied sciences and universities. Joint doing strengthens the cooperation between the company and the educational institutions and allows students to learn about the company’s product development and research activities.

– Cooperation has many benefits for Polar: we get and share expertise and resources and strengthen the use of technology in research. With the technology donation, we want to promote the University of Applied Sciences research, focusing on health-promoting lifestyles, especially exercise and everyday activity, says Raija Laukkanen, Director of Science Collaborations in Polar Electro.

Developing and promoting working-life cooperation as well as renewing networks and strengthening existing connections is of paramount importance to the University of Applied Sciences. The aim is to strengthen the research, development and innovation activities of especially growth-oriented companies through multidisciplinary cooperation.

– Lapland University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of harnessing its development environments more efficiently and also for cooperating with companies in the fields of well-being and health technology and digital health. With Polar Electro Oy’s donation, we have taken an important step towards achieving these goals, rejoices development manager Raimo Pyyny.
