The Degree Programme in Tourism focuses on giving our students skills and knowledge required in the international tourism industry. Lapland is an international tourism destination, which offers memorable nature-based high-end experiences to tourists from all over the world and unique learning opportunities and a real-life tourism laboratory to our students.

The Degree Programme in Tourism aims at providing the tourism and hospitality industry with managers who know how to balance travellers’ high expectations for memorable luxury tourism experiences while protecting nature, culture and the whole planet.


The main emphasis and specialisation area in the programme is Tourism Management and Experience Design focusing on Nature-Based High-End Tourism Experiences.


In the programme-specific studies we emphasise emphasise prerequisites for creating and managing nature-based luxury experiences like sustainability, nature tourism, diversity, human resource management, design thinking, risk management and other field-related issues related to the tourism business.Santa claus seal picture

Contemporary marketing, including eCommerce and product development, as well as various language and cultural studies have an important role in the degree programme.

We work in close connection with the local tourism business.The Degree Programme in Tourism also has specific tourism companies in the area with which we have deeper cooperation through e.g. various projects and other study-related assignments.

In addition, we arrange company visits, trips, visiting lectures and other activities together with the working life.

You can expand your professional skills in practice in your training periods. The degree includes 30 ECTS of practical training which can also be completed outside Finland. Training enables you to create valuable networks and connections to tourism companies and other organizations of the field.
