Titled “Impacts of Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)”, the thesis delves into the evolving landscape of corporate sustainability directives, particularly focusing on the implications of the CSDDD within the EU. Through a detailed analysis of both literature review and in-depth interviews, Omerovic uncovers significant challenges and opportunities posed by these directives for large companies, especially those operating in complex supply chains. Understanding the Impact of CSDDD: Challenges and Opportunities In response to the proposed CSDDD by the European Commission (EC), European postal and logistics providers face a pivotal moment in their operational landscape. The directive, aimed at safeguarding human rights and environmental protection across supply chains, presents both challenges and opportunities for these entities. Through a qualitative case study approach and in-depth interviews, this research endeavours to unravel the multifaceted impact of CSDDD on postal and logistics providers. Key challenges include legal interventions, compliance issues, stakeholder engagement, and global supply chain impacts. However, amidst these challenges lie economic benefits, technological advancements, and social improvements, offering a pathway towards enhanced corporate sustainability. Strategies for Successful CSDDD Implementation in Postal and Logistics Operations To navigate the complexities of CSDDD implementation, a comprehensive approach is essential. This entails assessing impacts, integrating policies, reporting transparently, and actively preventing and mitigating adverse effects. Collaborative efforts, clear communication channels, and sector-wide collaborations are advocated to streamline compliance processes and achieve CSDDD objectives effectively. “This thesis sheds light on the evolving landscape of corporate sustainability regulations and underscores the importance of proactive measures for companies to navigate compliance complexities”, said Omerovic. “By addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by CSDDD, we can pave the way for more sustainable and responsible business practices”. Omerovic’s master’s thesis contributes valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on corporate sustainability and regulatory compliance, providing a comprehensive understanding of the implications of CSDDD for businesses operating within the EU.
