This was a very special event for Lapland UAS as we were recognized for being an active member of Magellan exchange network for 25 years. Magellan network is a non-profit, global network of universities and has been facilitating student and teacher/staff exchanges for almost 30 years. Through Magellan network Lapland UAS students have great possibilities to go for a semester/year long exchanges in one of the trusted partners in the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand or South-Korea. In addition to meaningful student exchanges Magellan offers collaboration possibilities for research, joint classes, projects and faculty exchanges. More information about the possibilities offered through Magellan can be found at Home – Magellan. In addition to the long student exchanges Lapland UAS collaborates with the US universities by arranging possibilities for short-term cultural exchanges. Every year we welcome a group of US students for a one-week short exchange programme. During this programme students learn about sustainability, Finnish culture and the possibilities Lapland UAS offers for them as an exchange destination. This year, as part of the annual Magellan conference, Lapland UAS hosted a site visit and welcomed 12 partners from the US, Mexico, Thailand and Germany. During the site visit day on 9th October the guests learned about Lapland UAS and our education, met and greeted Lapland UAS students and staff while having a table fair in Café Lumen. In addition to the official programme the guests visited Arktikum and Arctic Circle.
