All our libraries and services are closed during Midsummer, as well as from June 29 to August 2. In August, we will return to normal opening hours. Please check the most up to date opening hours in LUC-Finna. You can follow the latest news on the library’s website, as well as on Facebook and Instagram. Use the library independently With an access control ID (STid), you can visit the library even when it is closed. In case of any issues, you can get help from campus services. Find more information about access control and campus opening hours from the websites of Lapland University of Applied Sciences or University of Lapland. Order your books now Book transfers are suspended from June 18 to August 2. During this period, items that are available at the library cannot be requested from one library to another. However, you can place holds on items that are on loan also during summer holidays. If you need books for the summer or want to prepare for the autumn in advance, order your books now. Longer loan periods in summer During the summer, your loans have extended loan periods. For 28-day loans, the due date is moved to early August, when the item is borrowed or renewed in early June, and for 14-day loans, when the item is borrowed or renewed in mid-June. Please check your loan due date in LUC-Finna or Tuudo. You can also return books during the summer When the library is closed, you can return items to the outdoor return box. If you have an access control ID, you can also return items using the self-service machine inside the library. Do not return items by mail during the library’s summer closure. Return boxes are not emptied from June 29 to August 2. Items returned to the library return box during summer closure are removed from your loan record in August. Because of this, you may receive overdue reminders. However, no fees will accrue for days when the library is closed. Return boxes are located at: In Kemi, at the Q door of Kosmos building In Rovaniemi, at the main door of the A-wing of the University of Lapland In Tornio, at the E door of Minerva building Chat service is on hold The chat service is on a summer break from June 29 to August 2. Lauda and Theseus You can upload your bachelor’s theses or master’s theses during the summer, but please notice that it will be reviewed and published in August. Acquisition suggestions and interlibrary loans You can submit acquisition suggestions and interlibrary loan requests during the summer as well. The requests will be processed in August. Do not return interlibrary loans by mail during the summer closure. The research and R&D services are on summer break The library’s research and RDI (Research, Development and Innovation) services are on a break from June 29 to August 2. Open access APC payments will not be processed during this period. Main cash desk University of Lapland’s main cashier, located in University Library, is closed from June 29 to August 2.
