CoARA is an international coalition for the advancement of research evaluation, with members committed to reforming the evaluation methods and processes used for research, researchers, and research organizations.
The vision of CoARA is to identify a wide range of research outcomes, practices, and activities that can be used to maximize the quality and impact of research. CoARA supports the responsible use of quantitative indicators and emphasizes qualitative assessment, in which peer review is essential. The researcher evaluation utilizes a systematic evaluation model based on CoARA criteria, in which the evaluation criteria include both quantitative indicators (number and quality of publications and external funding) and qualitative indicators (e.g., building a knowledge ecosystem, supporting the development of education, and utilizing research results).
