I fell in love with Lapland 17.10.2025 Student story For me, what has been most rewarding is the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned. Hello! I’m Imasha Amaratunga and I’m from Sri Lanka. I began my Tourism studies at Lapland UAS in 2023, and I will graduate this December. Two reasons why I chose this program- Firstly, I’ve been working in the tourism industry since 2017, and I wanted to learn more — and I have to say that this programme taught me way more than I ever expected. And the second reason- I had already fallen in love with Lapland for so long as I had seen many magical photos of the place. So, to be able to live and study here has been a dream come true. ❄️ During my studies, I could boost many skills such as thinking out of the box, flexibility, teamwork, and of course, my Finnish language skills! My teachers are very easy-going and super supportive, and I have made great friends. I had great additions to my life and knowledge like these through the studies. For me, what has been most rewarding is the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned. I am also a Travel Designer in Lapland, and it is great to be able to apply the knowledge from my studies to work and also the other way around. Looking back, selecting Lapin AMK and Lapland was truly one of the greatest choices of my life ❤️– Imasha, Tourism student of Lapland UAS Read More All blog articles 6.11.2025 Student stories Lapland called my name My adventure began in a city of Kemi, that somehow called my name quietly, yet with certainty.
