New Bachelor of Sport Studies, Outdoor Experiences is coming! Studies will start autumn 2027!

Experimental learning through connection with nature – Evidence based theories, real projects, high-performance teamwork and skillset for outdoors!

The Bachelor of Sports degree takes you far beyond the classroom — knowingly into the unknown. Lappish forests, mountains, rivers, and Arctic landscapes are our playground. You learn by actively doing: guiding real groups, planning expeditions, and working on projects that mirror real working life challenges.

Your studies combine hands-on outdoor experiences with a strong theoretical foundation in leadership, safety, sustainability, and human behavior. You will develop essential skills in outdoor leadership, risk management, and client-centred guiding while learning how to create meaningful and safe nature-based experiences.

Through teamwork, field-based learning, and reflection, you will grow into a confident professional who can lead others in demanding environments.

Career-Focused Studies

From day one, your studies are designed with your future career in mind. You will build a strong professional skillset that includes technical outdoor skills such as

  • navigation
  • survival
  • expedition planning as well as environmental knowledge
  • nature interpretation and
  • nature related project management.

At the same time, you will gain expertise in working with people — understanding group dynamics, facilitating experiences, project development and creating impactful outdoor programmes.

Our supportive learning environment helps you develop your personal strengths, professional identity, and confidence — preparing you to stand out in the international outdoor and adventure sector. The study path with different skills received gives you the opportunity for multidisciplinary careers according to your own interests.

Curriculum will be published later.

Flexible Study Options – Combine Work and Studies

We understand that many students already have experience in the outdoor field. That’s why the programme offers flexible learning paths.

You can recognise your previous skills and experience and integrate your work into your studies through practical assignments and projects. This allows you to progress faster and tailor your learning to your own career goals.

With a strong focus on practical training, including 35 ECTS of practical training you can gain valuable work experience either in Finland or abroad and build your professional network early on.

International Opportunities

Outdoor careers are global — and so is this programme. You will study in an international group and develop the skills needed to work as part of multicultural teams.

The programme offers opportunities for international internships, projects, and cooperation with global partners. Collaboration with networks such as ENOS – European Network of Outdoor Sports opens doors to wider European connections and experiences.

Studying in English strengthens your communication skills and helps you build a global professional network — a key advantage in the outdoor and adventure industry.

Career Prospects After Graduation

Turn your passion for the outdoors into a profession. After graduation, you will have the skills, motivation and confidence to work in a wide range of international outdoor careers.

Possible career paths include:

  • Outdoor or Wilderness Guide
  • Expedition Leader
  • Adventure Tourism Specialist
  • Environmental or Outdoor Educator
  • Outdoorsport cordinator
