The New European Bauhaus is a European Union initiative that brings together innovation and creativity. It invites all Europeans to help shape a sustainable, inclusive and beautiful future.

The initiative has already inspired a broad grassroots movement comprising nearly 2,000 associations, businesses and public-sector organisations from various fields, including municipalities and universities. To date, around 700 projects have integrated New European Bauhaus (NEB) values into areas such as research, regional planning, skills development and the cultural and creative sectors.

Established in Northern Finland in August 2026, the Arctic NEB Local Chapter is Finland’s first regional New European Bauhaus network. Its members promote sustainable and attractive living environment solutions for everyone. In its initial phase, Arctic NEB brings together stakeholders from Northern Ostrobothnia, Lapland and Kainuu, including organisations from the cultural and creative sectors, educational institutions, municipalities, businesses and local residents.

The Arctic NEB network was founded by Aaltosiilo, the Northern Finland Construction Cluster, Arctic Factory, Lapland University of Applied Sciences, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, and PROTO – Designers of Northern Finland.

Lapland University of Applied Sciences has joined the network to advance issues of particular importance to the North, including sustainable tourism and construction, culture and the creative industries, and local identity, while also addressing the challenges posed by climate change in the Arctic region.
